One match to go.

We earned a point from our draw against Doggers. Don't know other results yet but as far as I can see a win in our final game earns us promotion!!

Hillcrest Doggers 2- 2 Real Wood FC

The return of Colin drew a big squad to Frys to support him. It was great to see him and even better to have him back on the pitch towards the end of the match.
A hard fought match ended all square which most felt was probably a fair result.
Hillcrest took the lead but Jimmer's persistence brought an equaliser taking us into half-time 1-1. Tom added to another excellent performance (despite his man flu) with a fantastic goal heading Bertie's corner powerfully into the top corner. Unfortunately Hillcrest's determination brought them an equaliser and despite creating several second half chances we just couldn't convert to claim the victory.

Carl put in a good first half performance before generously taking over the refereeing and coping with some in-your-face appeals from one of the opposition.
Bill had an excellent combative first half before hobbling off after a cynical tackle from behind. Will he be back for our last match? Rick completed his season (he's unavailable for the last match) with another good performance coming close in the first half.
Jimmer battled tirelessly to the end trying to find that elusive winner.
Despite Tom's powerful performance and great goal he was pipped for Man-of-the-Match by an excellent performance by Jim as an attacking full-back.

One match to go. A win and we're up!

Victory by default Real Wood 3 - Golden Hillbillies 0

Sadly Golden Hillbillies couldn't get a team to face us so gladly accepted a 0-3 walkover. Looking at their other results we could have hoped to score some goals but you never know, so another win!

Real Wood FC - Golden Hillbillies

Real Wood FC - Golden Hillbillies

Yes it's Mother's Day but are you in?

Void : Sunday 13 Oct 2013 Real Wood FC 5 - 2 Deportivo Cha Cha Cha

Unfortunately Deportivo Cha Cha Cha have disappeared from the league so those of us that managed to play them have had the result removed. This affects our points and our goal difference as we beat them 5 - 2. Shame but let's not lose any sleep over it. It happens often and we've never complained when we've had a pasting deleted from the record books.
Personally I'd like to keep the scorers, man-of-the-match etc but would like to hear comments.

Real Wood 3 - 2 Dad's Army

Difficult to pick the goal of the match as some excellent goals scored by both sides.

As is becoming a habit we  allowed Dad's Army to take an early lead through James Greaves but Real Wood goals from Batty, Felix and Jimmer pulled it back to 3-1 by half-time. Batty’s goal a dream first touch and finish, Felix rounding the keeper before slotting home and Jimmer capitalising on Dad’s army’s defensive weakness to give us some much needed breathing space.

Much of the second half was spent giving away possession resulting in Louis coming to the rescue. A penalty which he almost but not quite reached made it 3-2 but we managed to hang on to win the closely fought contest. Man-of the-match was agreed on Louis as Tom shot himself in the proverbial foot by giving away a needless penalty. Champagne moments were debated as there was much admiration for Batty’s goal and much hilarity at me soaring to head clear a ball that barely left the ground!!

They say that good sides can not play well and still win and although there were some excellent moments it was by no means our best performance. Having said that 3 excellent goals and only conceding one goal to a striker called Jimmy Greaves is brilliant.

It was great to have Swifty back telling us what to do and playing with authority and terrific to have Bertie back so soon showing us what a talented footballer he is and how to catch the ball when it’s going over your head!

Lovely sunny day, nearly a posh pitch at Frys (certainly better changing facilities though not quite Sir Bernard Lovell) and lots of talk of onwards and upwards.

Real Wood 2-1 Rapid Viagra

Real Wood 2-1 Rapid Viagra
Great team performance no-one was prepared to nominate an individual for man-of-the-match because we all contributed greatly to a tremendous victory which hopefully takes us to the top of the division and well deserved. A couple of great goals from Felix and Gary saw us home. We had opportunities to put it beyond Rapid Viagra but didn't and had to defend doggedly, determinedly and keep well organised to survive. However some great blocks, tackles and saves saw us through. Mark managed the substitutions so everyone should feel they played an important role. Even better we were able to concentrate and fit substitutions into our shape by supporting and talking. There was a lot of Real Effort (Real Wood even) as people seem to quite like this winning thing. We won on astro!
3rd anniversary of founder Real Madras man Chris on Friday so what a good way to pay tribute.
We are top of the league!!!!
