If you ever feel that maybe you've lost a yard of pace there's a remedy. Simply play a charity match against a side that's on their 4th match in as many days and have already played one in Weymouth in the morning! Suddenly you're first to everything, well almost.
The downpour that accompanied us to Patchway gave way to some lovely weather and a really enjoyable game of footy. Not only that but we won 5-2. Our team included our youth policy in Billy's boys Jo & Rufus who made valuable contributions to our win and not-so-youth ex-Woodland stars Dean & Luke. Luke Made his mark with a great strike late on to accompany Tom P, Bill, Steffan and Batty with a header (there's one for the archives).
Our opposition were all really grateful to us for playing the match and several people made donations to their bone cancer charity collection so we were able to boost their pot too. I see their tour has added over £400 to their Leigh Gaskin memorial fundraising. If you couldn't make it yesterday and would like to donate here's the link for the tour https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/filtonfour2017 and also the link if you want to know more about the young man being commemorated https://www.justgiving.com/remember/141556/Leigh-Gaskin
Many thanks to those who showed up to play and support we had our biggest crowd of the season needing 2 hands to count the total. Maybe if we'd had that support all season we'd have recorded more victories or maybe we just need other teams to soften up the opposition a bit first.
